What dosage should I take?

If you’re completely new to psilocybin, we recommend starting off with a 100 mg dose product. You can slowly build up and transition to a 150 mg or 200 mg dose once you have become familiar with the effects of microdosing. It is important to know that everyone’s experience, and tolerance, is unique, so your preferred ‘sweet spot’ dosage may differ.

Is psilocybin addictive?

Studies have shown that magic mushrooms do not have tendencies to cause addiction. On the contrary magic mushrooms have been used therapeutically to end addiction. With repeated consumption one’s tolerance may increase, requiring a larger dose to achieve the same effects. Check out our Learn page for more resources.

Is your product lab tested?

Yes! Our psilocybin is locally-sourced, organically grown and lab tested to ensure the highest quality possible, with consistency.

All our other supplements and ingredients are all lab-tested where applicable, certified organic and sourced from reputable local suppliers we know, love and trust.

What is the shelf life?

When stored in a dark dry place at room temperature, ZumGadern product can last anywhere from 2-3 years until eventually losing some of their efficacy.

Can I consume ZumGarden microdose supplements if I have dietary restrictions?

Our capsules are vegan, organic, all-natural and free of common allergen. Our psilocybin is grown in gluten-free substrate. Our edible products (micro milk and chocolate bars) are vegan, gluten-free, organic, but do contain coconut products so avoid if you have an allergy to coconut.

Can psilocybin be detected in a drug test?

Most standardized drug tests do not test for psilocybin or psilocin the essential psychoactive substances. The standard drug test normally used by almost all corporate and sports testing programs check for these substances:

  1. Cannabinoids (cannabis, hash)
  2. Cocaine (crack, benzoylecgonine)
  3. Amphetamines (methamphetamines, speed)
  4. Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine)
  5. Phencyclidine (PCP)

If a test is ordered specifically looking for psilocybin or psilocin it can be detected but ONLY if a specific test is ordered for it. Standard pre-employment tests do not include this because the tests are so expensive.

However, the above is for your information only, what you choose to do with it is up to your discretion. We advocate for safe and responsible use of our products.

Preparation & Dosing Guidance

Is there an age requirement to dosing?

We only sell mushrooms to people 19 years and older, but we know that not everyone matures at the same rate. We highly recommend users to be at least 21 years and older.

Do I need to be in good health?

Do not consume magic mushrooms if you are in a bad state of mental health. If you feel depressed, we recommend you try a micro-dose schedule and not take a recreational dose of magic mushrooms. When you are in a bad state of mind, a magic mushroom trip may enhance the bad and you will have a bad trip.

Do not take magic mushrooms if you are in a bad state of physical health. If you have a bacterial and or viral infection like the common cold or flu, avoid taking magic mushrooms until you are back to normal health.

Does "Setting" matter?

Do not take magic mushrooms alone for the first time. It is preferred to consume while in the presences of someone who has taken magic mushrooms before.

Find a setting that is a quiet environment with no or very few strangers. Being in nature or a familiar indoor space is advisable.

Do not take magic mushrooms in a very public place for the first time.

Do not plans or appointments 24 hours from consuming magic mushrooms. Take your time with your trip. The ideas of having to catch a train or go to an appointment after your trip will take a lot of beauty out of your trip. DO NOT operate motor vehicles during and immediately after your trip.

Switch off your phone. You may not react rationally in the event that there is a good or bad news. Some people switch off their doorbells as to ensure they are not disturbed.

Make sure you are able to contact emergency services in the extreme case they are required.

Who should I surround myself with?

If you are taking magic mushrooms with a group, ensure you are with friends you can trust and enjoy being around. Do not take magic mushrooms with people you feel normally uncomfortable around as the trip will enhance these feelings and reduce the chance of having a great trip. If you are taking magic mushrooms for the first time, we recommend being with someone who has previously experienced magic mushrooms.

How to gauge my desire for dosing?

Do not take magic mushrooms because others are asking you to. If you do not feel comfortable and are not willing to take it on your own will it may have a negative effect on your trip. Take magic mushrooms because you want to take them and not because other people convince you to while you’re not completely confident in doing it. When you are scared of the potential effects, do not take them!

What food and drinks should I consume?

Ensure there is plenty of drinking water for everyone. Water does not lessen the effect, but magic mushroom trips tend to dehydrate the body, so it is recommended everyone hydrate.

Keeping some sugary drinks (dextrose) nearby is highly recommended. Sugary drinks will lessen the effects of magic mushrooms. If you or someone is feeling overwhelmed, drink or offer sugary drinks.

Taking magic mushrooms on an empty stomach will have the best effects. If you have just eaten, consume magic mushrooms 2 hours after your last meal. The trip will begin 20-60 minutes after consuming magic mushrooms depending on your metabolism rate. If you do not feel the effects after 60 minutes, do not consume more right away.

What should I do in case of a bad dosing experience?

If you’ve read this far and have followed our advice the chance of a bad trip are very unlikely. However, it may occur to someone in your group that did not follow our suggestions so strictly. When a person is having a bad trip, you will definitely notice it. They will start reacting very anxiously, extremely paranoid or even hysterical or violent. Here are some tips to take care of that person.

Never lose the person out of sight. This person may want to suddenly take off or leave the group. This person should never be and fell left alone.

Find a quiet place this person can sit or lie down. Have them focus on taking deep calm breaths.
Provide this person with a sweet sugary drink. This should reduce the effects of the bad trip within a few minutes.

A bad trip will often last the entirety of the trip. To the person going through a bad trip it may feel like it will never end. As a supporting person let them know and convince them that this is not true and that the trip will end in time. Continue providing sugary drinks and have them breathe calmly.

If you think that you’ve done your best as a support person but this person is becoming unmanageable you will need to get in touch with emergency services. There is no crime is admitting consumption of magic mushrooms, so be honest with the medical help and inform them of the situation.

Myths Explained

Myth #1: Magic Mushrooms cause bleeding in the brain

A bleeding brain would be diagnosed as a stroke, hemorrhage, or aneurysm. There is no evidence of a brain bleed ever after consuming magic mushrooms.

Myth #2: Magic Mushrooms cause kidney failure

Simply not true, some people experience nausea after consuming magic mushrooms but kidney failure has never been recorded from consumption of magic mushrooms. The psychedelic mushroom species Psilocybe semilanceata does not cause kidney issues, but mushrooms in the family Cortinarius are often mistaken for P. semilanceata, and are harmful to the kidneys. You can avoid these risks by not consuming wild mushrooms or products with unknown origins.

Myth #3: Magic Mushrooms make you go insane

Research has shown that psilocybin mushroom trips and psychotic episodes like those found in schizophrenia have some similarities, but in all cases trips are temporary. Even people who have been admitted to the emergency room after taking magic mushrooms return to their normal physical and mental state within hours. In fact, a recent study found reduced likelihood of psychological distress and suicidality among those who have experienced psychedelics such as magic mushrooms and LSD.

Myth #4: Magic Mushrooms are poisonous

This depends on the definition of “poisonous”. If you consider a chemical substance that induces intoxication, altering consciousness, and cause some physiological changes as poisonous, then sure, magic mushrooms are poisonous. If this were the case, then all drugs are poisonous, including alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and caffeine. A narrower definition of a poisonous substance, however, would not categorize psilocybin as such.

Mushroom poisoning from non-psychedelic mushrooms are possible and can cause serious physical illness and in rare cases death. Magic mushrooms are not toxic. To avoid danger, proper identification of mushroom species is critical. We do not recommend eating wild mushrooms without proper identification.
